They bark and growl at random intervals and are beginning to wake us up at night. They sound insane. I've listed them in LOOT for the next 4 weeks. Price for the Ad: £97
I wormed them for the first time today. The manufacturer makes the syrup taste of chocolate. Odd because we're then meant to spend the life of the dog trying to get it to leave our chocolate alone.
No matter, the puppies were a bit shocked at being held on their backs and force fed chocolate syrup but soon recovered. I did a naughty and guesstimated how much syrup they needed. 2 squirts each and 3 for Blackie the fatty. It is based on weight after all!
Honey seems to be avoiding them when they aren't hungry, which works out as when they aren't eating the are sleeping. All, that is, except for fatty black. Despite his tummy being the largest in the litter, he's began to wander round, almost walking, and not at all dragging about like the others. This is the beginning of the end for me.

The puppies started opening their eyes yesterday. They still look blind. The difference in their sizes now is almost unreal with the black dog being almost twice the size of the brown bitch. Blackie is a fattie. Seriously.
Their routine is still completely sleeping and eating with the occasional molesting by the kids, visitors and us but they mostly spend that time looking for nipples and then giving up and passing out shortly thereafter.
Honey ate something down by the beach yesterday when I wasn't paying attention and has since had violent digestive issues. I woke last night to the most powerful, horrible smell I think I have ever smelled in my life. Assuming it was my partner (HA!) I covered my nose with my blanket and went back to sleep. But when my baby woke up at 6 am needing to be tucked in, I very nearly walked straight into the most massive pile of dog excrement I have ever seen in my life. Thanx Honey. Anyone out there thinking of getting a dog, THINK CAREFULLY! Dogs are gross.

Dimly lit with a string of lights, it lets the rest of my home down. It's where my paint, DIY rubbish, X-mas tree and decorations, yoga equipment, vacuum, mop bucket and carpet cleaner live. Things have been moved to the shed outside and to my in-laws garage for the time being. This causes me great stress.

The door is left open and a baby gate keeps the dogs in (although Honey will jump the gate for the right visitor) and keep the children out. Basically, its a mess and anyone who knows me knows how I am about my house and the way it looks.

Duct tape holds the flooring remnants to the wall half a foot up on each side for ease of cleaning and its chewed and worn from the last batch of puppies and really needed replacing before Honey had this lot.

The daily routine right now is pretty easy. I change the bedding and mop once a day to keep it smelling fresh (ish). I occasionally rescue a wandering puppy but otherwise just make sure Honey gets lots of water, food and love.

The boys stroke and love the puppies whenever possible and today is the first day that Honey doesn't seem bothered when they do. They gain weight hourly and have visibly grown from the start of the day to the end, the largest being the black male.

I'm trying to enjoy these puppies right now before they figure out how to destroy my will to live, which they will. I just keep reminding myself that they are paying for the work on our garden....

It was true. They also kind of look like fuzzy beached whales. They sound, however, more like guinea pigs being tortured with a cattle prod. They only time they go quiet is after a good feed and that's only for a few minutes to sleep off the binge before the hunt for food is on again. Ahh what a life!
Honey will leave them briefly for food or water but eats so fast she chokes. I'd have taken her for her normal beach walk but am pretty sure she'd remember her puppies a third of the way in and totally flip out.
I've let Noah and Evan both stroke a puppy under her watchful eye. She acts like my mother-in-law did when I had Evan, not trusting anything I do and never taking her eyes off me for a second. Where's the trust!?

Two brown (one male, one female), two yellow (again, one male, one female), and one black male. All are perfect teeny tiny labradors. Blind and virtually deaf, they sound kind of exactly like the neighbours are having really dirty sex just next door.
Noah (who is two and a half) has not voluntarily left the puppies since he met them after coming home from nursery yesterday. He's quite fond.
Evan (21 months old) thinks they are quite interesting, but not quite as interesting as Noah's fire truck/torch, which coincidentally, he has had a lot more use of since Noah has been on puppy watch.
Still, it is early days. The first puppy was born yesterday (April 2, 2008) at 12:35 and the last puppy gushed its way into the world around 14:35. Honey acted a pro this time around and she had no problems. She even appeared happy and smiling throughout the labour and births. Stupid dog. Little does she know what she's in for!
